As part of the foundation for the STAY project, the consortium has successfully completed its desk research phase, mapping existing knowledge, strategies, and policies related to youth dropout in sport across Europe.
Led by UNICAS (Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale), this research included contributions from all project partners and focused on:
- Key reasons behind teenage dropout in sport
- Existing retention initiatives across clubs and countries
- Gaps in support systems for athletes, coaches, and parents
- Opportunities for developing new solutions within grassroots sport
The upcoming Desk Research Report will summarise findings and highlight relevant practices, frameworks, and challenges gathered from multiple contexts. It will also serve as the evidence base for the focus groups, pilot activities, and the creation of good practices and e-learning content.
