The STAY! project team joined fellow sport and education professionals in Rome for the EU TeqGames Workshop held in May 2025. Organised by the EU-funded TeqGames project, the event brought together initiatives working on youth engagement, inclusion, and education through innovative sports formats.
During the workshop, the STAY! project was presented as a case study on how local sport organisations can design and implement targeted actions to prevent dropout in sport. The presentation focused on findings from pilot activities carried out across Europe, showcasing practical solutions such as tutoring support, community-building events, and cooperation with families and schools.
The collaboration between STAY! and TeqGames reflects a shared mission to make sport more accessible, engaging, and developmentally supportive for young people. The Rome event was an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore how new and alternative sports, such as Teqball, can serve as an entry point or retention tool in youth sports programmes.
Participants discussed how joint efforts and EU cooperation can amplify impact, especially in areas where dropout rates are highest. The STAY! team welcomed the chance to network with other organisations and gain inspiration for the final project phase and upcoming recommendations.
This collaboration underlines the importance of cross-project exchange in achieving sustainable solutions in sport and youth development. The STAY! project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and unites partners from seven countries.
