As part of the STAY project, TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen focused on coaching pathway development to retain young athletes in sport by involving them in training and mentorship roles. The club designed a structured programme to help current and former athletes transition into coaching beginner and youth teams, reinforcing both their sporting identity and future career direction.
Participants received mentorship from senior coaches and real coaching experience. This initiative also contributed to the club’s sustainability by building an internal pipeline of future coaches.
