As the STAY! project enters its final phase, the consortium is proud to present the official STAY! Policy Brief – a concise document summarising key insights, lessons learned, and policy recommendations for tackling youth dropout in sport.
Based on two years of collaborative work across seven European countries, the Policy Brief outlines actionable strategies for local, regional, and European stakeholders. It highlights the importance of holistic approaches that go beyond the field of play – including educational support, social inclusion, and stronger links between sport organisations, schools, and families.
The document is designed for policymakers, sport organisations, educators, and anyone interested in making sport more sustainable and accessible for young people. It draws directly from the experiences of the STAY! pilot actions and includes voices from coaches, parents, and young athletes who participated in the project.
By sharing this Policy Brief, the STAY! consortium aims to inspire further action at all levels – from grassroots to national – and to contribute to long-term change in the way we support young athletes on and off the field.
The Policy Brief will be presented at upcoming conferences and multiplier events, and it is freely available for download on our website.
